Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is an Mexican-American sportscaster. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN who is also an anchor of SportsCenter as well as hosting SportsNation. She began her career at ESPN in 2016. Her mother is the television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta has been bilingual since her age of nine. Her skills were instrumental in helping her get her first role as production assistant at Univision Miami at which time she assisted the production of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Following this she was hired by it was the CBS channel in St. Petersburg employed her as a sports reporter. The year 2009 saw her move to Rio Grande Valley, Texas in order to be an anchor for the newscast of The Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. She covered stories about illegal immigration as well as drug trafficking in both Texas and Mexico. She also filled in anchors on sports and weather. She was then the anchor reporter and anchor for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her more responsibility. She did pieces on the Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Also, she hosted on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. The anchor also worked as an anchor on sports for Primer Impacto, a magazine show that was broadcast on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born in Veracruz, Mexico. In the past, they relocated from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. She is the older sibling of her parents. The family moved in 1992 to Mexico for the US and settled in Miami. Her parents divorced soon after and her mother was remarried to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo who died of kidney cancer in 2006. The couple remained at Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer, where she had been offered a job. Antonietta was the senior of her high school however, she was certain of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University to find out if the school was suitable for her. It turned out that she enjoyed the university as well as the fact that it offered an academic program that she liked. When she completed her high school studies, she was accepted into the university to study media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was student in her class, established a long-lasting relationship with the student. He inspired her to be self-confident and his passion for journalism was deeply affecting her as did she. She was determined to fulfill his standards and never fail him.
